Proposed Rate Adjustments
PUBLIC FORUM NOTICE
April 14, 2015
To Our Valued Patrons:
The City of Roanoke is in the process of submitting its FY 2016 budget to City Council and the City’s Parking Fund is part of that process. The Parking Fund’s revenues from monthly and daily parking are used to fund all operating expenses of our system, address all capital improvements, and to fund the cost to expand the parking system for the benefit of downtown. These revenues are not part of the overall taxpayer funded General Fund of the City.
Over the past year we have updated and finalized a 5 Year Comprehensive Maintenance Plan for our parking facilities which was used during the FY 2016 budget planning process to direct the spending needs of our parking system. The types of projects included in the plan are elevator modernization, equipment upgrades, and preventative maintenance work on our parking structures.
We have recommended these proposed Proposed Rate Adjustments to City Council which are intended to begin to fund the needs listed in this 5 year plan in addition to the ongoing operating expenses of the system. PARK Roanoke has not had comprehensive rate adjustments in nine years. If approved by City Council, these rates would become effective July 1, 2015.
If you want to learn more about what has been proposed you are invited to attend one of two public forums being held this Friday, April 17, 2015. The forums are being held at 8:30 am and 3:00 pm in the Emergency Operations Center on the ground floor of the Municipal Building located at 215 Church Ave SW.
We appreciate your patronage and look forward to continuing to serve you. Please contact us if you have any questions.
