Market Garage Construction Update
Beginning in early 2014, construction will begin on a Hampton Inn and Suites to be located in and above the Market Garage. The City of Roanoke and PARK Roanoke are very excited about this project . Market Garage will be open and under largely normal operating conditions during hotel construction. The construction time frame is projected to be between 12 and 18 months. PARK Roanoke will work hard to minimize the impact of hotel construction and interruption on normal parking during this time. There will be some construction work necessary within the garage for this project.
Some of the changes include:
- The lobby of the hotel is to be built in the vacant storefront space along Church Avenue. As part of that work, the hotel will construct an express elevator to carry guests from the hotel lobby directly to the hotel above.
- A new floor plan that will be created by the addition of the hotel’s elevator and one-way traffic flow to the garage will be introduced in early 2014. New signage will be in place as a guide for garage entry and exit.
As we learn more and a formal timeline is provided by the contractor, information will be posted on this page. We expect to send out periodic updates on the progress of the hotel construction. We are also planning to coordinate a discussion forum for our customers and Windsor Aughtry’s contractor, Pride Construction.
